About this scholarship

The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is an initiative of the Australian Government that aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia and strengthen our relationships through study and work placement in the region. The NCP Scholarship provides an opportunity for high achieving undergraduate students to undertake study, internships, and language training in the Indo-Pacific region.

Eligibility

You're eligible if you: are nominated by your home university are an Australian citizen are not a current citizen or permanent resident of your proposed host location(s) are enrolled in and undertaking, until completion of all study components of the NCP Scholarship Program, at least one Bachelor Degree, or Bachelor Honours Degree or eligible undergraduate language-focused course at an Australian campus of an Australian university are between 18 and 30 years of age (inclusive) for non-Indigenous applications, or between 18 and 35 years of age (inclusive) for Indigenous applications, on 1 January 2026 are not a previous recipient of a New Colombo Plan (NCP) Scholarship (may have received a NCP Mobility Grant) are not an employee of the branch of Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) that administers the NCP are able to commence the scholarship between 1 January 2026 and 15 December 2026
