As the first in my immediate family to attend university, I recognise the value of external support for individuals who have financial or other challenges. The support provided to me gave me the opportunity to concentrate on my studies as an undergraduate, then to progress to a satisfying career in applications of mathematics to real-world problems. Now that I am able, I seek to provide some support to budding mathematicians to help them through undergraduate studies.
