About this scholarship
If you meet the criteria of the UQ PhD Industry Placement Award you will be provided with the award payment upon successful completion of the placement. You will also be considered for a tuition extension and thesis submission date extension up to a maximum of 3.75 years Full Time Equivalent at that time. Read the Placement Award FAQs
Eligibility
You're eligible if you: are a UQ PhD candidate (full time or part time) are on a living stipend managed by a sponsor external to UQ*, or not in receipt of any living stipend scholarship have successfully completed a Graduate School coordinated PhD Industry Placement of at least 60 working days You must submit a completed project brief within the first 18 months full-time equivalent (FTE) of your candidature. The project brief must include the project outline, placement duration, host organisation signature (in line with government requirements) and endorsement from your Principal Advisor (PA). Successfully complete the HDR placement at least one month before your current stipend expires. This includes submitting the completion reports and receiving the "Placement Completion" email . The Industry Placement Scholarship extends your existing stipend, so you must still be receiving your original living stipend when the extension is awarded. Please keep this in mind while negotiating your placement dates with the host. Please note that if the placement finishes too close to the scholarship expiry date there is a risk that stipend payments may be disrupted. *4-year funded stipends are not eligible, such as industry funded.
